The region

Here you are in the Bay of Mont-Saint-Michel, an exceptional site famous for its tides and changing lights. In just a few minutes, you can reach the Mont itself, with its hilltop abbey steeped in history. But the region doesn't stop there...Avranches, a neighbouring town, offers a fine overview of Normandy's heritage, with its gardens, museums and views over the bay(watch out!). Further south, the beaches of Carolles and Jullouville invite you to go for a swim, or at least to put your feet in the water and watch the sun set over the sea. If you like to wander aimlessly, there are a number of hiking trails in the region, including the famous GR223, which runs along the coast with spectacular views. The more inquisitive can go as far as Granville, a lively port town, or visit the local farms and markets to sample the products of the Manche region: caramels, cheeses, seafood and artisanal ciders.
