The region
Sweet onions, PDO goat's cheese, brandade de morue, gardianne de taureau, olive oil... Simple, well-made products that tell the story of the region. On the sweet side, there are the famous local strawberries, the traditional fougasse and other local sweets.
The black truffle of Saint-Paul-Trois-Châteaux is also present, of course.
The weekly markets in Goudargues, Uzès, Pont-Saint-Esprit, Barjac and Bagnols-sur-Cèze are much more than just places to shop. You'll find fresh produce, local craftsmen and an atmosphere that adds to the charm of a group holiday.
The Gard produces solid reds, fresh rosés and whites that go down well in the shade of a plane tree. Costières de Nîmes, Côtes du Rhône, Côteaux du Pont du Gard: there's something for everyone, without breaking the bank. A number of wine estates are opening their doors to visitors: a great idea for a discovery tour with your group!
In short, it's an area that's as much about taste as it is about sight. Make sure you have an appetite!
