The region

For hiking enthusiasts, there are several signposted footpaths leading from the campsite through forests and meadows. Among them, the Sentier des Troubadours leads to the Château de Puivert, while the Labyrinthe Vert loop offers an immersive walk. Close by, the Château de Puivert, dating from the 12th century, is one of the best preserved in the region. Listed as a Historic Monument since 1907, it boasts uninterrupted views over the Quercorb valley and houses the famous Salle des Musiciens, testimony to the importance of music in medieval times.
Lac de Puivert, at the foot of the château, offers excellent conditions for swimming, paddle-boarding and fishing. Enjoy the safety of its supervised beach in summer.
Twenty kilometres away, Lac de Montbel, a vast 570-hectare reservoir, offers water sports activities such as sailing, canoeing and fishing.
The medieval village of Mirepoix, around 23 km away, is famous for its arcaded square and half-timbered houses.
\\The castle of Montségur, a symbol of the Cathar resistance, is less than an hour's drive away. Perched at an altitude of 1,207 metres, it offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. Finally, the Voie Verte des Pyrénées Cathares (Cathar Pyrenees Green Way), built on an old railway line between Mirepoix and Lavelanet, is a great way to get moving together, whether on foot or by bike.
