The region

The Terre Rouge campsite, located in Villecomtal, makes it easy to enjoy the unspoilt countryside and rich heritage of the Aveyron.
The area is rural, peaceful and free from mass tourism. However, several major sites are within easy reach by car. Conques, with its abbey church and Soulages stained glass windows, is a must-see. Estaing, Saint-Côme-d'Olt and Sainte-Eulalie-d'Olt are all classified as Plus Beaux Villages de France, each with a different atmosphere. These are easy half-day outings to organise.
For nature lovers, the environment is very favourable. The Lot valley, the Aubrac plateaux and even the Gorges du Tarn (just over 1 hour away) offer many opportunities for hiking and sporting activities: cycling, walking, canoeing, via ferrata, etc. The V86 cycle route, which crosses the Lot valley, passes not far from the campsite and can be done as a tour or for a day.
Local agriculture is still very much in evidence at the weekly markets, with Laguiole cheese, Aubrac meat, aligot and seasonal vegetables. For groups, this is an opportunity to plan shared meals or tastings on the spot.
Finally, Rodez is less than an hour away. The town is compact but culturally rich: Soulages museum, old town centre, bars and restaurants to choose from!
